Michael McQuaid plays jazz and swing from the 1920s and 30s with remarkable energy and originality. An Australian resident in London, he has toured the world as a featured artist, playing with his own groups and with the contemporary greats of traditional jazz - Keith Nichols, Vince Giordano, Bob Wilber, Andy Schumm, Jon-Erik Kellso and many more. Michael has a deep affinity with the rest of this quartet, having first met them touring in Australia years ago - together they form a swinging, hot combination.
Martin Litton is a virtuoso stride and swing pianist, having appeared with a who's who of jazz in London and abroad. A resident of Hay, he is renowned worldwide for his delicate touch and imaginative reworking of the pianist styles of Jelly Roll Morton, Mary Lou Williams and Teddy Wilson.
Thomas 'Spats' Langham is beloved by audiences for his engaging stage presence, rock-solid rhythm guitar and banjo, dazzling solo features and devastatingly charming crooning. Appearing with all sorts of bands, he is well known to Cotswolds audiences for his quartet 'Hot Fingers'.
Another member of Cotswolds supergroup 'Hot Fingers' Malcolm Sked, is a hero of the bass instruments, both string and brass. He rivals even Spats Langham for popularity with audiences, due not only to his musical dependability, but his obvious warmth and magnetism.
Together the quartet will explore how jazz saxophone took the UK by storm in the 1920s and 30s!
