This award-winning film (2007), based on the best seller book of the same name by Khaled Hosseini, is set in Afghanistan against the backdrop of the Russian invasion pre 9/11 and the repression experienced under the Taliban’s regime. This is a tale of betrayal, cowardice and redemption and a boy who commits a terrible injustice but is given an opportunity as a man to redress his sins in a direct way.
