An exile in the UK, Iranian-Kurdish musician, Zanyar Hesami, performs on the Saz. This beautiful stringed instrument, also known as the Baglama or Divan, is a cornerstone of traditional music in Kurdistan. The Saz is very similar to a lute and produces a rich, warm tone and the lovely microtones that are so characteristic of Middle Eastern Maqam music.
